SPP Carbon Pricing for Procurement Initiative
The Carbon Pricing for Procurement Initiative is a transformative effort aimed to accelerate global supply chain decarbonization. It was launched in 2024 to co-develop a set of principles for integrating carbon pricing into tender evaluation and supplier selection processes. In January, the SPP community celebrated the release of the collaboratively developed Carbon Pricing Principles. By incentivizing suppliers to baseline and decarbonize their operations, the initiative fosters an approach designed by Procurement, for Procurement with a shared commitment to sustainability across industries. In 2025 we launched phase 2 of the initiative, the piloting phase. Companies committed to piloting Carbon Pricing in their procurement practices and to working together to share best practice and continuously-improve the Principles based on the feedback from those implementing and engaging.
After nine months of peer-to-peer exchange within the Carbon Pricing Pilot Group, we are reaching our next milestone: the release of an updated version of the Carbon Pricing Principles this autumn. This new edition will provide practical guidance on integrating carbon pricing into procurement tenders and supplier selection.
To complement this launch, we are excited to open this Call for Carbon Pricing case studies. This is your opportunity to share your experience, showcase leadership, and inspire peers in the global procurement community.
