SPP IS RECRUITING – Community Engagement Manager (m/f/d)

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Sustainable Procurement Pledge (#SPP) is seeking to add to its growing team a Community Engagement Manager. This is a new role and will have as a main goal to work closely with the SPP Global Office team, the Founders and the Steering Team to establish and lead communication channels with the movement’s internal community groups, including our network of global Chapters, our 17 000 and growing Ambassador network, and our Volunteers.

The successful candidate should be comfortable being self-directed and working in a fast pace environment to take ownership of delivering and maintaining a positive and inclusive experience for all members of our community.

SPP’s strategy between now and 2030 is ambitious with a bold goal to grow our Ambassador Community to 1 million strong. This role will play a key and critical part in reaching this goal.

The Community Communications Manager will drive efforts to inform, connect and engage our community, you will help them stay informed and active.

Overview of key tasks and responsibilities

You will have the unique opportunity and responsibility to shape the direction this role takes through your work and participation in the Global Office team in alignment with the Global Strategy.

Role Purpose:

Salary Band:60,000 EUR gross per year depending on relevant experience

Reporting Line:Executive Director

Start Date:as soon as possible

Working Hours:Full time – exact schedule depending on location

Contract Duration:2-year contract with the possibility of renewal subject to organizational needs and performance. Please note that there is interest in a stable and long-term partnership for this role and the team is growing with good opportunity for development within this role.

Location:Remote – German-based preferred with some limited travel required.

Main accountabilities of the role

Working with the small but mighty SPP Global Office (GO) team, you will contribute to this important moment in the development of the organization. For the first three years, SPP was a fully volunteer-led and run organization. In 2022 the GO was established to support the fast growth and high-reaching goals of SPP. The successful candidate will work closely with core volunteers and the Global Team to establish community engagement and communication tools and channels in line with the global strategy and support of the chapter’s needs.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Internal Communications Manager will:

  • Shape the development and facilitate the implementation of SPP’s Strategy 2022- 2030
  • Work in close collaboration with the SPP Global Office team to evaluate and implement a data solution to support an integrated Community Engagement strategy.
  • Support SPP community groups by developing and implementing an internal communications strategy and implementation plan, including campaigns, in line with SPP’s broader communication, brand, and culture and aligned with the SPP strategic goals.
  • Promote across the SPP community direct engagement and content-driven discussions.
  • Regularly assess and respond to changing needs for engagement and communications within the community.
  • Establish and maintain annual community communication structure and processes.
  • Coordinate with the governance team to establish aligned community management structures and processes
  • Support the Strategy team with the monitoring of community engagement and impact, including the development of a monitoring and return on investment framework in collaboration with the Governance & MEL team and report on the performance of internal communication against set goals.
  • Advise, train, and guide the SPP Chapter Co-Chairs in developing and integrating aligned chapter communication strategies as part of our community.
  • Support the development of tools to welcome, onboard and train community members to ensure brand guidelines are understood and followed.
  • Create regular internal newsletters to the community and specific community groups and other periodic updates as necessary.
  • Support the deployment of annual campaigns within the community.
  • Support the promotion of community events which can be digital, in-person, or hybrid.
  • Work closely with the SPP Global Team on goals and workflows.

 

WE ARE HOPING YOU BRING

We think you would be a good fit for this role, if :

  • You have 5+ years of proven experience in developing and managing communities and/or stakeholders, internal communications, or similar relevant experience, in an international organizational context.
  • You are a self-starter and will enjoy both developing and implementing a strategy. We currently do not have an office, so you must also be comfortable primarily working from home.
  • You have a degree and/or professional qualification in communications, social science, administration, journalism, economics, management, or another relevant field that make you an exceptional communicator and community builder.
  • You have proven expertise in communications, knowledge management, and managing sophisticated internal virtual workplaces.
  • You have demonstrable experience designing and implementing engagement and/or communications strategies to cultivate thriving virtual communities.
  • You have a data and impact-driven approach to improve internal communication and engagement channels and campaigns.
  • You have excellent relationship management skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a wide range of stakeholders at all levels, and independently.
  • You have strong organizational and project management skills and ability to prioritize among competing tasks.
  • You have a high level of intercultural competence, tact, and political sensitivity.
  • You have excellent communication skills, with business fluency in English required; additional languages are always an asset in our global community.
  • You have interest in a career with meaning and a desire to actively build and shape the organization’s structures, processes and impact.
