Sustainable procurement is a journey – one that no company can navigate alone. In the spirit of collaboration and shared learning, the SPP Pharma & Life Sciences Chapter launched a supplier engagement initiative to uncover and share real-world insights from across the pharmaceutical and life sciences supply chain.
This effort, led by SPP Champions Pfizer and AstraZeneca, was launched in context of The Guide, an initiative by the Sustainable Procurement Pledge (SPP) Champion Program in 2023 that aims to inspire & empower procurement professionals committed to driving sustainability, sharing ugly truths, best practices, and case studies across a range of industries and sustainability topics.
The response to the supplier engagement effort was incredible – more than 70 suppliers contributed case studies, providing a wealth of knowledge on what works (and what doesn’t) when integrating sustainability into procurement & supply chain strategies.
After careful review, six case studies were selected as particularly inspiring and impactful, and have been included in The Guide:
- Laurus Labs: Cicular Economy – Energy Conservation
- Lonza: Supplier Sustainability Risk & Supplier Decarbonisation Maturity Frameworks
- Ralca: Inforporation Efforts for a more Sustainable Word
- Steelcase: The Power of Possiblity
- Thermo Fisher: Accelerating Renewable Electricity with Customers and Suppliers
- QMC Group: EVSE me ASAP! The EV win for Employees & Customers
These case studies highlight the power of collaboration in driving meaningful change across the industry. Congratulations to these suppliers on their outstanding contributions.
So what’s next?
In addition to these six new case studies, 47 more will be published soon as part of Beyond The Guide: Deep Dive – Pharma & Life Sciences Supply Chain. This new resource will share a collection of experiences, challenges, and solutions aimed at informing, inspiring, and accelerating sustainable procurement efforts across the industry.
A special thank you to SPP Pharma & Life Sciences Chapter for their leadership in making this initiative a success, and to every supplier who shared their story. Your contributions are helping to shape the future of sustainable procurement.
Stay tuned for the release of Beyond The Guide Deepdive, and let’s continue learning, sharing, and driving impact – together.
