In case your organisation is planning to calculate its own emissions or you would like to give your suppliers guidance on how to calculate their emission, these free tools might be helpful. These tools have been developed by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, a multi-stakeholder partnership of businesses, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governments, and others convened by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
The GHG Protocol’s tools should be used after consultation of the GHG’s Protocol’s Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, in order to ensure the development of an accurate and useful emissions inventory.
The tools are all extensively tested by industry experts and represent best-practices for those industries. Besides the cross-sectoral tool, the list also includes tools relevant to specific industries, countries and even cities.
Last but not least, the Scope 3 Evaluator from Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Quantis makes it easier for companies to measure, report, and reduce emissions throughout their value chain.
