About
This chapter is for procurement professionals who work in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. It aims to support the procurement community, advancing together towards our companies decarbonization targets and buying more sustainable products and services, from suppliers who share our commitment (as SPP Ambassadors) to a sustainable future for our planet and for patients.
Purpose
To help each other to be leaders in Sustainable Procurement in Pharma & Life Sciences, using the support of our network of SPP Ambassadors to build environmental and social sustainability into all aspects of procurement;
From embedding sustainability into category strategies, and providing strategic insights and best practice sharing of decarbonization initiatives, to sharing how we can embed sustainability as a selection criteria in our sourcing processes, adjudication, contracts and supplier performance management.
The Chapter also seeks to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of sustainable procurement with the sector’s stakeholders and use the power of collaboration to reach the same goals for planet and patients.
Scope of our Chapter
We focus on the categories specific to the sector, such as:
- Research and development (R&D) and clinical trials
- Contract research outsource (CRO)
- Process chemicals and excipients (or more broadly, starting materials)
- Contract development and manufacturing outsource (CDMO)
- Laboratory services and consumables
- Cold chain logistics
- Medical devices
- Indirects
